As a big business centre and a student town, Cologne caters for every type of traveller, from budget to business, low on cash to ultra luxurious. For sightseeing, it's easiest to stay near the Dom Cathedral and Old Town but to enjoy the countryside, it's sometimes better to stay further out.

Conti Hotel
This cheerful hotel located in the Belgian quarter has one factor that summons up instant goodwill: free Wi-Fi throughout the property. Rooms are on the basic side with little more than a bed, small cupboard and small TV and the decor is no-frills as well. It has a Thai restaurant and is close to other restaurants and shops as well as offering its own parking if you're coming to the city by car.
